Hematological Malignancies Bridging the Translational Gap - The 2nd Dotan International Symposium | 05.09.2017 | Beit Hatfutsot,  Tel Aviv University Campus

The 2nd Dotan Center International Symposium, titled "Hematological Malignancies - Bridging The Translational Gap" was held on September 5th 2017, at the Tel Aviv University campus.

The symposium focused on six key hematological malignancies. For each disease, a renowned Israeli physician described the "translational gap" - the unmet needs of patients requiring solutions by translational research. Each such introduction was followed by a lecture by an internationally acclaimed scientist including:

  • Prof. Raj Chopra from Institute of Cancer research London
  • Prof. John Crispino from Northwestern University
  • Prof. Ruud Delwel from Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam
  • Prof. Joop Jansen from Nijmegen Medical Center
  • Prof. Adele Fielding from University College London
  • Prof. Radek Skoda from University of Basel
  • Prof. David Weinstock from Harvard Medical School

They were joined by nine esteemed scientists from Israel:

  • Irit Avivi MD , Sourasky Tel-Aviv Medical Center
  • Avigdor Avraham MD Sheba Medical Center
  • Dina Ben Yehuda MD, Hadassa Medical Center Jerusalem
  • Shai Izraeli MD, Sheba Medical Center
  • Tsvee Lapidot PhD Weizmann Institute of Science
  • Maya Koren-Michowitz MD Assaf Harofeh Medical Center
  • Yishai Ofran MD Rambam Health Care Campus
  • Avichai Shimoni MD Sheba Medical Center
  • Ofir Wollach MD  Rabin Medical Center

They described the latest research that is ready to "cross" the translational bridge from the laboratory to the clinic. This was a unique opportunity for the scientific community of Tel Aviv University to meet these scientists and to establish future collaborations and joint ventures that ultimately aim at curing hematological cancers.
