Dear colleagues,
The Cancer Biology Research Center (CBRC) is pleased to announce the call for applications to the 5th Zvi and Esther Weinstat Graduate Student Awards for outstanding research achievements in the field of cancer.
The call for proposals is directed to all graduate students who work on cancer-related projects at Tel Aviv University and its affiliated medical centers. In 2023, several awards of up to 4,000 NIS each, will be awarded to outstanding research projects.
The projects will be selected by members of the CBRC committee and the Chair, Prof. Ronit Satchi-Fainaro. The awardees will present their work in this special event scheduled to be held on September 13th, 2023 at 14.00-16.00 at Hall 201, the Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.
About CBRC
CBRC is a joint activity framework of the Faculty of Life Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine to advance cancer research at Tel Aviv University and its affiliated hospitals. At present, CBRC comprises more than 90 research groups that operate at the Tel Aviv University campus and at the affiliated medical centers. The CBRC aims to support innovative research projects, encourage young researchers and increase cooperation among the various research teams.
How to apply
Applicants should send a single PDF file that consists of three-page proposal (English, font: Arial 11/Times New Roman 12, line spacing: 1.5) including:
- Project Title (only one line, up to 100 characters, not including spaces) on page 1.
- Principal Investigator (head of the laboratory (name, academic position and affiliation);
- Abstract (not exceeding 300 words).
- Scientific Background - including the need, and hypothesis.
- Preliminary Results.
- References, up to 10.
In separate pages (of the same PDF file) please add:
- A short CV (NIH style)
- Reference letter from the PI of the graduate student (could be sent separately by the PI).
Eligibility
Application can be submitted only by Tel Aviv University graduate students (MSc, PhD, MD/PhD), whose research project is directly related to cancer and will not complete their studies till December 2023.
Deadline for proposal submission: 10.08.2023 at Noon.

Proposals not written in accordance with the requested format will not be considered. Upon submission, an electronic confirmation of receipt will be sent by Dr. Ben-Porath.
