It is my great pleasure to thank all who joined us at the Cancer Biology Research Center Meeting!
First and foremost, my heartfelt gratitude goes to the wonderful Judith Ben-Porath and our dedicated organizing committee - Uri Ben-David, Raya Leibowitz, Vered Padler-Karavani, Dr. Amir Sonnenblick, Dinorah Friedmann-Morvinski, Itai Benhar, Pia M.D Raanani, shai izraeli, and Lior Mayo - for their tireless efforts in shaping such an inspiring and enjoyable conference.
This year, we were delighted to be greeted by Abed Azem Abdussalam (The George S. Wise Faculty of Life Sciences at Tel Aviv University), Karen B. Avraham (Gray Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences) and Moshe Bar-Haim, (Israel Cancer Association), and welcome 230 participants to the beautiful David’s Harp Hotel on the Sea of Galilee, including two distinguished international Plenary Speakers, 36 invited speakers across 12 sessions, 92 principal investigators, and 138 students and residents. Together, we created a vibrant forum where basic, translational, and clinical researchers shared their insights into cutting-edge approaches in cancer biology.
I extend my deepest thanks to our plenary speakers, Todd Golub and Maria G. Castro, for traveling to Israel under challenging circumstances to present their outstanding work. I am equally grateful to all our invited speakers and to the Tumor Board Panels, so expertly guided by Raya Leibowitz and Dr. Amir Sonnenblick, for their invaluable contributions that made the program both stimulating and impactful.
We were also privileged to receive generous support from our exhibitors and sponsors. Their contributions enabled us not only to hold this event but also to subsidize 30 student registrations (through the Djerassi-Elias Institute of Oncology) and to recognize excellence with 16 student awards:
- Posters:
First Place - Yann Frey.; Second Place - Roohi Chaudhary and Johanna Zerbib; Third Place - Rami Khoury, Yasmin Leshem, Keren Reshef, Anne Krinsky, Laureen Sarah Goodman, Anshika Katyal, and Sarah Amar (graded by 30 judges from 100 outstanding posters).
- Flash Talks:
First Place - Yael Zait; Second Place - Ron Kleiner and Avinoam Razhabi; Third Place - Yarden Aharony Tevet, Keren Talmor, and Omer Samuel Azar (graded by 8 judges).
Congratulations to all award recipients!
The social program added a wonderful dimension, with a festive cocktail party featuring the RockVille Band, and a magical Sunset Tour followed by DJ Nadav Agami. These moments of joy and connection enriched the scientific experience.
A special thanks to the Kaleidoscope team, whose professionalism and dedication were essential to the success of this meeting.

We would like to thank all the Speakers, Session Chairs, Sponsors and Exhibitors, Service Providers, and Participants that contributed to making the 19th CBRC Biennial Conference a huge success!
The exciting program put together by the dedicated CBRC scientific committee combined fantastic talks by 47 TAU leading scientists and physicians, 3 outstanding plenary presentations by renowned scientists from abroad, 2 of the Industry's and Patient's Perspectives, and 20 amazing flash talks presented by TAU students.
In addition, a new panel in the form of a "clinical tumor board" initiated a fascinating discussion bridging the basic science with the clinical approach to some of the most burning issues in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

All the presentations were followed by Q&A, comments & discussions, which continued during the breaks, over dinner, and during the social events.
Indeed, it was a unique opportunity after 5 years to meet face to face, share our latest research findings, and lay the foundations for new collaborations. Such meetings have an important role in advancing innovative ideas and approaches to understanding and fighting these devastating diseases.
We are grateful to our generous sponsors & supporters who contributed to this meeting, to @Galilion Hotel's amazing hospitality, to the wonderful photographer Yael Zur, and to the Kaleidoscope production team for their excellent professional organization.
On behalf of the CBRC committee members, we would like to thank all the participants and guests for choosing to take an active part in this important conference and contribute their own invaluable expertise.
Congratulations to all the Posters and Flash Talks Prize winners!
You’re welcome to see our best moments from the CBRC 2023! >>
Looking forward to seeing you all at the next CBRC meeting in 2025!

About 250 Israeli scientists took part in the 18th biennial conference of The Cancer Biology Research Center, held at the Hacienda Hotel in the Galilee on May 9-11 2018.
Two visiting scientists from abroad participated in the conference, Prof. Anthony Ribas from Los Angeles (https://www.uclahealth.org/antoni-ribas) and Dr. Tanya de Gruijl from the Netherlands (https://www.amsterdamresearch.org/web/cancer-center-amsterdam/people-4/de-gruijl.htm)
The conference included 10 scientific sessions with over 40 lectures that reviewed the most advanced research conducted at the university and the affiliated medical centers.
Nine excellent research abstracts were chosen for the lectures presented by students and of these two outstanding abstracts won special grants. All the submitted research abstracts were presented in a special poster session. The informal meetings between researchers, clinicians and students held during the conference are the basis for groundbreaking research and future collaborations.
