The Integrated Prevention Center (ICPC) has diverse and broad experience in translational research focused on early detection, prevention and therapy of cancer, particularly in tumors of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract but also other solid and hematology malignancies.
The research team led by Dr. Shapira is highly experienced in preclinical and clinical studies, molecular epidemiology, as well as in molecular and cell biology studies of cancer.
On-going researches at the ICPC focus on translational research, bridging between basic researches in the lab and clinicians and patients at the clinical centers.
Current research projects include:
• CD24 - a potentialoncogene and a biomarker for cancer and cancer-related chronic inflammatory disorders
• Early detection for CRC and hematological cancers
• Prevention of GI tumors
• Identification of high risk subjects through molecular epidemiology
• Design of novel therapeutic methods for GI carcinogenesis.
