Prof. Ariel Munitz

The Munitz is focused on defining the roles of eosinophils in the tumor microenvironment. Eosinophils are white blood cells that have been "traditionally" studied in the context of allergic and parasitic diseases. Surprisingly, despite the fact that eosinophils have been associated with numerous solid tumors more than 120 years ago, their roles in the tumor microenvironment are understudied. We have recently shown that the TME in multiple tumors is characterized by eosinophil recruitment, prolonged survival, and degranulation.

Our primary goal is to define the roles of eosinophils in the TME and to identify forms of therapy that can unleash eosinophil-mediated anti-tumorigenic responses.
